On August 27, as summer is winding down, the fun at Bar Anticipation in Lake Como, New Jersey, will be heating up with its annual celebration, featuring WFAN’s Mike Francesa, New Jersey’s own Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes, and the debut of “eddy,” a 600-Watt vertical axis wind turbine that will help the Jersey Shore mainstay take vital steps toward energy independence.

With the launch earlier this season of Grotto Beach, “Where the Nightlife Lives All Day Long,” Bar Anticipation (also known as Bar A) has a redesigned “beach” area with inviting VIP cabanas and a waterfall water-feature, making the Grotto a “splash-hit” for Summer 2010. With the new improvements, the club’s owners are determined to reduce energy costs and make strides toward reducing Bar A’s carbon footprint.  They see the wind turbine as an effective resource for generating clean, renewable energy.

“Installing the eddy is just one component of Bar A’s overall energy strategy,” says Greg Hart, president and CEO of The Big Wind, the New Jersey distributor of Urban Green Energy (UGE) products. “Bar A wants to serve as a model for other local businesses that are looking for smart ways to implement renewable energy at their establishments.”  Located within a mile of the beach, Bar A enjoys ocean breezes throughout the year, making it an ideal site for the innovative wind turbine and the production of clean energy.

The eddy is different than a traditional “windmill” – it’s nearly silent and looks more like art than an appliance or piece of equipment. “It can be assembled in under an hour, take wind from any direction, and be mounted on either a pole or a roof,” says manufacturer Urban Green Energy. “eddy’s a name you can depend on to produce clean energy day or night, year after year.”

The festivities at Bar A begin at 1:00 pm, when Mike Francesa takes the stage in the Grotto, bringing along a variety of special guests and lively conversation on a variety of topics.  Southside Johnny performs during breaks, while eddy presides over the event all afternoon and evening, an eye-catching and functional example of renewable energy at work.

The Big Wind sells, plans, and implements the installation of vertical axis wind turbines (VAWTs), an innovative technology that allows energy to be generated on a small scale to meet the individual needs of the end user.
